Why You Need To Change Your Environment To Change Your Life

It was therapy day, and at the beginning of my session, my therapist asked what in my environment I need to change? In that same conversation, the mood to change certain things in my life arise. For example, I recently felt fear, anger, sadness, frustration, and anxious emotions.

These emotions went on for months. I allow it to build up inside, avoiding that certain things in my environment were affecting me. While my environment is organized and clean (yes, all the time), change was needed in other things.

After that, I started meditating on the things in my environment I can change to better my life. Then the reality of my therapy session hit me. And my mood shifted, and my energy changed.

Many of us spend more time at home, and we’re more aware of what we love about our home and what we don’t. Hence the things in our surroundings are often used to create new opportunities for us.

So if you are in my situation and not proud of your life and surroundings, keep reading to change your environment to change your life to give you wealth, peace, happiness, and beauty.

How can your environment affect you?

We all have those things or even room we pass by and cringe. We do not even realize it on a conscious level. But, our environments affect us more than we realize. Whether it’s a hideous lamp, piece of furniture, cluttered closet, food in the refrigerator, the layout of our office, paint colour, it can impact our mood.

So, what can you do about this?

Have you heard of the Marie Kondo method? If you haven’t, it’s where you go through your belongings and see if they still bring you joy. If they don’t, all you need is to remove it. And that’s one way to change your environment to change your life.

If you have extra storage, you could put them aside for a bit. But, if not, this is a great chance to declutter anything in your environment and donate, gift it or throw it out.

You don’t have to get rid of all your stuff and buy all new things or paint your entire house or apartment. But, sometimes, even a few small changes can have a significant impact.

For instance, my workspace at home was not making me productive. I was struggling to sit and do any work. So, I brought a new deskchair and a few desk decorations. As a result, I’ve experienced all sorts of motivation spark in my brain.

How have I changed my environment to change my life?

When I left my therapist, I came home and inspected how to change my environment to better my life.

So many people don’t realize how great of an impact our immediate environment affects us.

I saw ways how to change your environment to change your life for the better!

Here are examples of ways to change your environment to change your life that really boost my personality and change the person I want to be:

For instance, I started buying flowers every week

When I buy flowers for myself, I feel a sense of calm. But when I got a bouquet, the feeling is more I owe you something.

Going through my house

It doesn’t need to be all in one day. In fact, it’s better if you take your time. If the task makes you overwhelm, you will not do it. So first, I notice what makes me cringe, or at least feels like it doesn’t fit the mood or aesthetic.

For example, in my bedroom, I cleared out some of my furniture, clothes and items, but I didn’t get rid of everything. Reorganizing and decluttering a few things make a huge difference. Then, I made a note and took pictures of what I was going to change.

Cutting through people that brought no growth to me

I felt compelled to take care of my mind by limiting the people I call and associate with. To enjoy my life, I decided that the people around me had to change. I want people who have excellent vision, determination and drive about their daily life and future goals. So, I decided to hang up on people who want everything from me but give little.

Consistent with my health

If you have been following me or reading my blog, especially the health and wellness category, you’ll know I’ve battled with a hormonal disorder.  To get somewhere, normal I had to stock my pantry with healthy grocery/plant-based. So, if you’re in a tough situation with your health removing food that’ll harm you is the best choice.

Find joy in my appearance.

After going through so many years of feeling sick and disliking my body, it was time to get a wardrobe refresh. For me, clothes are more than getting ready. When I get ready clothes, give me confidence, especially when I wear the right silhouette. I also feel recharge and dedicate to take on the day.

A while back, I used to dress very formally like darker colors, but I notice now that I like a pop of brighter colours here and there. This post-attractive wardrobe capsule will give you progress if you want to look stylish.

Of course, you can buy new, if you want to, but my point is that you don’t always have to. It’s best to be creative and repurpose what you already have if you can.

Taking a break from social media

Now, as a creator, social media is obviously on my entrepreneur to-do list. But it was affecting me. There was no passion for creating and sharing my life. Moreover, people on social media sometimes scroll and don’t support your content. And it not always you are doing the wrong things.

After talking to my therapist about it, I set boundaries around when, how and why I show up on social media.

I feel a lot more relaxed. When I know I have control of my social media platform, I know that I will promote, inspire and help entrepreneurs use every resource to reach their best

Everything else I don’t need right now saves me time. Sometimes a new scheme or stepping back to reflect can freshen your mood up. You can find some real treasures if you take time off.
