Let me share a fun fact: if I had to add another career to the list, it would be an interior designer. I’ve learned all my home advice from HGTV, magazines, and my stylish aunt. I still binge-watch home content shows and buy tons of home magazines. Lol. So, today, I’ll share how to elevate your house with 7 cozy home decor ideas.
WHAT MAKES A COZY HOME WELCOMING
Before I start, we are speaking of the emotional connection when it comes to a cozy home. So, there is no right or wrong way. Furthermore, the secret is to get a notebook, magazine clipping, Pinterest inspo, colors, fabrics and start to create your style. After all, I’ll share what you need to know to guide your inspiration and make it easy to apply to any style.
7 EASY COZY HOME DECOR IDEAS
TIP 1. LIGHTING COLLECTION
Better lighting means better living! The color, size, and shape of your lighting create a cozy style. Also, the best lighting is warmer light bulbs—3000k. Besides, warmer lighting is more inviting. Another cool tip is to use smart lighting; it sets the perfect cozy mood. Side note: candles are great, but keep reading; I share more.
TIP 2 – PLANTS & FLOWERS
Plants and flowers evoke a natural feeling in a room, making it unique to each emotion. Living things breathe life into any space, so if you have a green thumb for houseplants and flowers, enjoy them in your space.
For plants, go with ferns, orchids, spider plants, and peperomia—their natural beauty will offer a cozy feel to your area. If you’re not, faux plastic plants are a good option; stay away from silk faux.

TIP 3 – TEXTURE
To create a cozy home, start by layering texture. For accents, begin layering with a throw blanket and pillows. That way, your home will begin to feel cozy. You can also add rugs to your room. I freely mix ancient and contemporary colors and unconventional materials—there are no boundaries. You have to trust your emotional process when choosing the textures.
But place it on the floor, in a basket, and so on. Don’t hesitate to use different texture elements, such as fuzzy ottomans, velvet, knits, silk, or linens.

Mirrors and artwork virtually permanently enlarge and add personality to your space. A mirror or artwork feature on the wall is a simple way to make a huge impact. Mirrors are needed to open and bounce light.

TIP 5 – SCENTS
Scents are one of the most potent aromas of a cozy mood. That’s why I create a pleasant fragrance with the Jo Malone candle! The scents are soft and make you feel beautiful and comfortable.
TIP 6 – ACCESSORIES
Details matter! Accessories lend personality and warmth to a room. So, for accessories, go traditional. Splurge on accessories so your home never goes out of style.
Add functional accessories, such as a clock, lamps, books/shelves, magazine racks, baskets, vases, pictures, and sculptures (wood, metal, or glass).
TIP 7 – DRAPES
I don’t have drapes but want them in my bedroom—especially linens! There is something about drapes that makes a room cozy. Barn & Willow has incredible drapes.
BONUS TIP – BE ORGANIZED
A crucial tip is being organized in your home. Good energy happens when you stop excessively decorating your surroundings. I keep things minimal, which forms elegance. So, the key is to keep your space organized for a relaxing and aesthetically pleasing room. I also don’t like clutter.

Whatever your style, these tips will make your home feel cozier and homey!
