The Best INSTAGRAM VS REALITY You Will Read This Year

Should you delete your Instagram account? At times we may indulge ourselves with things for a long time that may need us to step back. It was 7:00 a.m on Thursday, August 6, and I already had interruptions. I know it was time to reset my life. That said, I had to switch off from Instagram. It also dawned on me, or it struck me that I was investing ample of my happiness on Instagram. So I looked at my phone and deleted Instagram.

Now, this Instagram vs. reality you’re aware of is not what you see on Instagram. As many elements go on behind the scene that content creators don’t highlight. And if I had to give you a flash, it would need a separate post but stay with me; I’ll pen it soon. Just know it’s over and above the static photos or videos, you see on your feed.

Anyway, earlier this month, I set up new goals for my blog/social media and personal life. Yet I was seduced with time. Two weeks into my “new plan,” and everything was dropping on me. I was overdue on writing content for my blog, projects, exams and health issues. So, it was natural to delete the app that requires too much of my attention. I mean, to grow your social media, you have to show up frequently on Instagram. But you may be wondering if this post relates to you? Well, if you have an Instagram account, you’ll be interested in finding out if quitting Instagram can make you happier.

QUITTING INSTAGRAM CAN MAKE YOU HAPPIER

It was an enormous Instagram vs reality shift when I deleted the app. The world of Instagram teaches us to share our lives, BUT posting your life every day takes a lot from you psychologically. Have you observed your activities with the app? In fact, ask yourself these questions to evaluate your happiness:

  • Are you making money on Instagram?
  • Are you on Instagram to educate?
  • Are you on Instagram to support?
  • Are you on Instagram to be entertained?
  • Are you on Instagram to motivate?
  • Are you on Instagram because a social media coach/influencer told you it’s the best place for your business?
  • How much profit are you making from Instagram after investing your time?
  • How is Instagram contributing to your business?
  • Are you ready to fully immerse your time on Instagram?

Once you understand Instagram, you become more emotionally responsible. Besides, with all this in mind, I pause the app. And I was more productive and happier. Sometimes, people tell you that Instagram is the best platform for your business, but it’s because they had success. Sadly, not every success story works for everyone. The same as hashtags or social media techniques will not work for all Instagram accounts. You have to get The Psychology Of Selling your business before you put it on Instagram. Anyway, I’ll record my three life-changing habits of my “Instagram” hiatus.

THE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS INSTAGRAM VS REALITY

instagram vs reality

Oh, the joy of an Instagram influencer! I know Instagram is a popular app with a lot of benefits once used right. Despite this, the platform was not hitting my blog/business goals. After creating content for 6-10 hours, I was getting 6-8 website visitors. It was not worth my time, monthly blog expenses, photoshoots and more. And you or the experts might say I need a better strategy. But I repurpose the same content on Pinterest and got hundreds of website views in minutes. So, my time was a must on Pinterest.

When you’re a new influencer/blogger, it’s essential not to “Keep up with the Joneses.” Especially when you’re under 1K on Instagram, it won’t be easy to make money or influence your audience to head over to your blog. Hence you should know when you log into Instagram. So your passion should worth the time; otherwise, use your time on a different platform. Then when you build a trusted audience return. Now don’t get me wrong I also enjoy Instagram, but I’m working on understanding my audience.

In the meantime, my focus is on Pinterest and Search Engine (SEO). I’m also considering retaking a break from Instagram. Because the aim at The Unique Spott is to get website traffic, build a community with my readers, and clients (Consultation). So, you see why you need time to reflect on what Instagram can do for your business. That said, here are the three life-changing habits I learn for my business.

INSTAGRAM VS REALITY HABIT 1 -REMOVE YOUR DISTRACTIONS

What are your distractions? Sometimes, the simplest things could be some of the biggest distractions. Instagram was my pleasure distraction. I log in, and before I knew it, all kinds of emotions will affect my mood. But thankfully, I have the discipline to restore my feelings.

When you want a meaningful life, you have to see what’s distracting you. And I recognize Instagram was a distraction. Waking up and checking in to view if others like, comment or engage with my content didn’t excite me anymore. And this announcement is the opposite of what I should be saying as a blogger, but if something is insignificant, exit and find other ways to fulfil your purpose. Now, most people will argue as people have chosen Instagram as a full-time career.

Besides, Instagram is not the only platform for your business or personal career. So don’t feel guilty if it’s not working for you. Also, some people are millionaires without a social media platform. So you don’t need to have agnosis. In fact, I double my blog/business traffic while away from Instagram. So, cash in with this e-book – HOW TO USE PINTEREST TO DRIVE TRAFFIC TO YOUR BLOG and get the traffic.

INSTAGRAM VS REALITY HABIT 2 – CONTROL YOUR MINDSET

“All work, no play.” Is that the mindset that’s leading us to be depressed. Or the comparison game. Whenever you have to protect your mind, don’t believe everything people preach on Instagram. After being on Instagram for one year, I developed a love-hate relationship with the app. I was frustrated about people following and not engaging, hashtags not working, account not growing, and comparing accounts. And these issues were releasing the wrong hormones.

It took me time away to focus without scrolling and being influenced by others’ lives to become more creative. Sometimes we get overloaded by extra content. That’s what consistent scrolling does to our mind. And before you know it, you start disliking or comparing yourself to others. But please don’t tell me you don’t compare. Be true to yourself since everyone does it.

Here’s the thing you have to control your eyes because it’s the window to your soul. Hence, if Instagram starts to affect your energy put a lid on it or set boundaries. You will protect your mind and happiness.

INSTAGRAM VS REALITY HABIT 3 -PRIORITIZE YOUR TIME

When I checked my weekly screen time, it was an Instagram vs reality moment. Instagram was the second-highest viewed app. Although I consume at least two hours per day on the app, I create content for about six hours – researching topics, writing captions, editing, shooting, engaging, stories, and other substance matters. And it’s allotted on weekends for the week ahead. So emotionally, I didn’t have time for different projects and social life.

But with my break, I quickly normalized and focused on things I was passionate about and enjoyed most – writing, reading, outdoor activities, spending quality time with loved ones and working on my personal goals. And I’m not saying Instagram is not one, but I had more time to do things that were top priority.

Please don’t buy the idea that you need to be on the go as that belief can be debated. My caution is to learn when to curve.

Now, if you want to become a master of your time and your to-do list, check my checklist templates that changed my life. These essential things will transform your morning, evening, and blog to-do-list.  I also found this video on youtube, and it’s a must to watch.

CONCLUSION

To capsulate, remember “You” is the essential element in any story. The way you interact with Instagram is to add value to your inner happiness.

The question that I constantly ask myself these days about Instagram is “How is Instagram/this particular post contributing to your business?” If I don’t have a valid answer, I don’t post and go back to the drawing board.

This question is great! And thank you for sharing because sometimes we need to review the content and not feel pressured to post.
