The best part about traveling is planning, so you get to see more of the world than usual – and in some cases, save more money in the process!

Now, where should you go?

  • Belize
  • Turks and Caicos

How To Plan A Trip On A Budget

Inspire to get a relaxing, luxury vacation, soaking up the sun at a resort and enjoying nature. As Alexander McQueen said, “there is no better designer than nature.”

Here is how I plan my trips on a budget and enjoy it to the fullest!

First, determine your destination: where is it that you want to go, and what do you want from experience? Remember, popular destinations cost more. So, try the places that are beautiful and less popular.

Next, decide on your dates: when do you have free time and for how long? Consider if your destination is seasonal, as prices will fluctuate throughout the year.

Lastly, determine what type of accommodation you want for the duration of your stay: do you want luxury or budget? Hotel or hostel, resort or Airbnb. These small details get you thinking and might help you get the best destination for your travel.

Tips on how you can save money when planning your trip:

Use a hostel instead of a hotel.

If you’re going to a destination where you can’t find a cheaper hotel, it’s worth considering staying in a hostel instead – especially if you’re traveling solo.

A hostel is often cheaper than a hotel, but they have an added benefit – shared spaces with other travelers, making it more fun and social.

There are also dormitories which means that you can save even more money by sharing your bunk bed with someone else and splitting the cost of food with them.

Unlike hotels, hostels offer lower prices on amenities like laundry or free Wi-Fi, and many hostels don’t charge you extra fees at check out either.

We love Skyscanner for this.

Skyscanner is a search app where you can find, compare and book low-cost air travel. And the best part is that it is entirely free to use.

Skyscanner has since expanded its coverage to over 250 destinations in Europe, Asia, and the USA. With more being added all the time. The app offers affordable fares for more than 50 airlines, including Ryanair, EasyJet, American Airlines and British Airways, so that it can get you around the world quickly and easily.

And if you reach here sign up to the tribe. You would enjoy first access to valuable and helpful content.

Book the hotel or Airbnb as far in advance as possible so that you can get the best price.

For planning a trip on a budget, I recommend using the Agoda, Booking and AirBnB apps.

If you are looking for a cheaper but still reliable place to stay, these three apps are the best. They are travel apps that have proven to be very valuable in saving time and money.

The following are some helpful tips that will help you save money when planning your trip by using the apps:

• Never book just one or two days before your arrival date

• Never book at peak seasons when hotel rates are highest

• If you plan on staying in a city for a few weeks on an extended break, it is always best to book just 4 nights in your accommodation. That way, you can always move elsewhere if you don’t like it, and if you do like it, you can extend

• Always make sure that the hotel you plan on staying at provides free Wi-Fi access

More budget travel tips

Keep track of your expenses daily and know what you’re spending during the trip to budget properly. Google Spreadsheets is a good option for this, or install a money tracking app on your phone like the free Mint app.

Take advantage of discounts available at specific locations, such as museums, tourist attractions and hotels.

Use public transport instead of taxis, or – even better – explore as much of a place as you can by foot. Every destination will offer free walking tours, which will help orientate you to your location.

Travel to non-expensive destinations like South East Asia and India.

While traveling to other countries, it is essential to stay within your budget. However, many destinations are a lot cheaper than the ones in Europe and North America.

Southeast Asia is highly-rated region that offers tourists various budgets of destinations depending on what they want to do in the region. This stunning corner of the world is perfect for all tastes – from the city lover to the beach bum.

Some of the best countries in this area of the world include Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and more. Bali in Indonesia is also easily reachable from this region and is a very affordable option.

So if you’re looking for an international, extended trip on a budget, consider India or South East Asia.

A budget vacation is not only good for your wallet but also for your health and well-being. Booking a budget hotel or hostel lets you experience a new culture without having to worry about paying for pricey dinners and expensive tours.

Planning on a budget means choosing the cheapest possible options when booking flights and accommodation. It also means using public transportation to get around instead of renting cars or taking taxis everywhere.
