How should I start this post? Honestly, this post is a month late because I began to pen it to celebrate three months of blogging in October. Nevertheless, here we are in November, so without delay, let’s get into my diary of a new blogger and the journey thus far.

I did a poll on Instagram asking my audience what they wanted to know about the new journey I started, and four questions stood out, which I would like to answer in this post. MY DIARY AS A NEW BLOGGER

Dear Diary, I would not have imagined in a million years that I would be calling myself a NEW blogger. First, what is a blogger? Is that a career? Is blogging profitable? Because diary, I want to know before I cast my eggs into this basket. Tell me I am making the right decision about leaving my 9-5 job with benefits for a profession I do not even quite understand. It seems risky, so encourage me because I really cannot fathom why I would want this profession in my late 30’s.

I know what you’re thinking. Is this how a new blogger starts? Moreover, the answer depends on where that person is in their life. Because for me, I took this new journey to translate my experience into love and beauty after I almost lost my life. So it was at that point that God handed me back my life, with a new hope to live my purpose and to share the faith I had uniquely experienced.

Hence the name of my blog, theuniquespott. Nevertheless, I had some dilemmas. I was scared to express myself in writing, to let people into my personal space, and to be vulnerable with strangers.

Fast-forward three months into this space, and I am a new person. Blogging has encouraged me to invest in areas of my life that were lacking growth. It makes me more meticulous because others are expecting more from me. I also found a new passion for things I never thought I was capable of doing. That is why I am establishing my entrepreneurial life soon.

4 ADVISE FOR A NEW BLOGGER + WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

It is time to lift the veil and answer those burning questions you all probably came here for, lol! So let us get straight to it!

1. WHY DID I CHOOSE TO BLOG?

I felt blogging chose me. It is a form of communication with myself through a creative medium. Besides, it just seems right to use a platform I can identify with and call mine. I worked for others for so many years in building their industries that I thought it was time to develop my own. Blogging happens to be it.

2. HOW DO I BALANCE LIFE?

I answered this question briefly on Instagram, but for those who do not follow me there (@kizzymscott), I said there is no secret to a balanced life. My balance comes out of my PASSION. Because things happen, and those commotion lists do not always work in my favour.

3. WHAT ARE MY BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS FROM BLOGGING THUS FAR? AND DO I HAVE ANY REGRETS?

My biggest takeaway is the investment I made in myself. Also, the community I have created with people who now look to me for inspiration. Do I have any regret? I believe that disappointments will always occur, so it’s how I let them affect me. I did not get into blogging with the expectation of quitting. Therefore, the circumstances don’t matter; I will finish this chapter and move on when my new book arrives. (lol)

4. HOW DID I LEARN ABOUT THE INDUSTRY?

I researched the heck out of the industry! I have spent late nights researching the market and reading other blogs, books on influencer marketing, social media and websites – it was a lot to soak in the knowledge and apply it where necessary. But I’m also detail-oriented, and this is where my attention to detail comes in handy. Honestly, to be better at anything, you have to read and research.
