A Story of Promises of God

Sometimes we go through difficult times – losing our job, marriages falling apart, sickness, losing a loved one, or struggling to make life happen. I have experienced some difficult times, and it was either God’s way or no way. So let me venture to my secret place and share how the promises of God have given me guidance and hope.

As I was reading my Bible and seeking God, I came across the promise of provision in Philippians 4:19, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” This promise gave me confidence, hope, and direction to trust God’s provision for whatever I was dealing with. But it was not easy taking the word and believing it. I had to create pockets of habits that would help me mentally.

A few days later, I received an unexpected call in my spirit to create a list of all the promises of God, to match the issues I was going through in life. Using these scriptures offered me a new way to cope – it was an answer to my prayer.

I used it to continue trusting in the promises of God and began seeing more blessings. I was restored from grief, paid off 90 % of my debts, and got a new job. It was the start of a brighter day and being confident in God’s words of promises. Through it all, I knew that God was faithful to his promises.

This experience taught me the importance of trusting God’s promises even when things seem impossible. I’ve learned that God’s promises are true, and you can rely on them in every circumstance.

The Bible is a collection of books that provide guidance and wisdom to people of all ages and backgrounds. One of the central themes of the Bible is the promises of God. Throughout the Old and New Testaments, God makes numerous promises to his people, providing hope, comfort, and guidance to those who trust him. In this blog post, we will explore some of the promises of God in the Bible and the significance of these promises for believers today.

  1. The promise of salvation: The Bible teaches that salvation is available to all who believe in Jesus Christ. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This promise comforts believers, knowing they will have eternal life in heaven.
  2. The promise of forgiveness: God is a forgiving God. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” This promise provides hope to those who have made mistakes and sinned, knowing they can receive forgiveness and start anew.
  3. The promise of provision: God will provide for his people. Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” This promise comforts believers, knowing God will care for our needs.
  4. The promise of strength: This promise of God will give you strength. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” This promise provides hope knowing that God will give us the strength to overcome any obstacle.
  5. The promise of peace: The Bible says that God will give his people peace. Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This promise comforts believers, knowing God will give them peace even during difficult circumstances.
  6. The promise of a future: God has a plan for his people. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This promise provides hope to believers, knowing that God has a plan for their lives and a future that is filled with hope
  7. The promise of rest: God wants to give us rest. Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Then Jesus said, come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” If you are tired or burned out, let this promise give you the recovery to know God wants you to rest in him.
  8. The promise of answering prayers: Prayer is key in our relationship with God, and this promise is one of my favorite. Mattew 7:7 says, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will opened to you.” Stay consistent, and you will see the fruit of your labor prayers.
  9. The promise of good things: This promise of God is to let you know that God always works everything out for your good. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
  10. The promise of life: We have everlasting life because of this promise in John 3:16 “God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
