10 SELF CARE PRACTICES THAT WILL IMPROVE YOUR LIFE
Self care practices are my most luxurious practice. I make this a non-negotiable habit. Because I value the opportunity to take care of my mind and body. So, it was easy to pen my essential practices. Yet, it was tough to come up with self-care ideas for males. If I had a partner, these are all the things I’ll promote for him to do.

SELF CARE PRACTICES FOR WOMEN
1. Create an intimate space
Is there an area in your home for you to escape? My bedroom is a cozy space. But it doesn’t have to be yours. Think of an area that is effective for you to think and relax. Albeit, it’s for 20 minutes. Also, I create a space to energize and motivate myself. So, add candles, essential oils, a diffuser, throw pillows, a lounge chair and anything to make you comfortable. By creating this space, you’ve invited yourself to feel happier.
2. Create a self-care routine
What is your main focus now that will make you feel happier later? By this, create a routine that attracts happiness. Skincare and bath-care boost my dopamine. After all, the key is to empower yourself. For instance:
- Paint your nails,
- Doing a photo shoot,
- Listen to music and dance like crazy,
- hair treatment,
- Dry brush massage
- A hot long bath
- Have a morning routine,
- Give yourself a mini facial using this mask,
- Sip on your favorite tea
- Read a self-help book
- Watch something silly or junky on Netflix, YouTube or TV
3. Spend more time resting and disconnect
Sleep is an essential self-care practice. Although it can be challenging to disconnect during the day. Try to take naps during the day to rest your body and mind. You are providing the best love to yourself. Sleeping is also a way to disconnect from information and technology consumption. The world is loaded with emotion and distressing news, so spending more time resting and disconnecting is necessary. And if you have problems sleeping, try these tips and sleep more soundly.
- Invest in down pillows
- Wear a silk eye mask
- Having the right temperature between 60 and 67 degrees is ideal
- Choose the right sheet. Look for counts under 600. Yes, high thread counts are less breathable and can make you sweat.
- Use blackout curtains
- Wear the right pjs and undergarments.
4. Practice a day to focus on self-love
The more you enjoy positive reflection, the more you’ll see that love grow. Allow yourself to feel the love in whatever way you deserve it. I find healthy outlets to take care of any anxiety, fear, and tension. Maybe try journaling, meditation or mindfulness activities such as:
- Yoga
- Cooking
- Doing a craft
- Read
- Reflect on a personal mission statement
- Discover a new hobby (knitting, painting, drawing, woodworking and so on.
5. Find time to move your body
I know you probably hear this a million times. But exercise is a fantastic self-care practice. Regular workout boosts your hormones and eases tension. So combine cardio strength and flexibility. A tip is each day choose a different exercise, for instance:

- Standing Cross Crunch
- Bridge
- Torso twist
- Dumbbell Bent-over Row
