HOW TO PLAN LIKE A PRO IN 3 EASY STEPS
I decided it was time to try something different that would satisfy me. But if you’re still with me, I’ll say a lot of outlining needs to happen in my life. Although planning is my expertise, I had to restructure my life to accommodate my new career.
This is why I curated a schedule to facilitate my Type A personality. And if you are wondering, what does that mean? I’m just rigidly organized! But if you have two careers, I will say planning is essential. In fact, for anything!
So, I’m here to break it all down for you. I’ll share how to plan and stay on schedule with everything like a boss!
WHY IS PLANNING IMPORTANT FOR YOUR DAILY ROUTINE

There are plenty of reasons why having a daily routine is essential. If you want expert advice, get this book, Atomic Habits. But here are some leading ideas on how to plan like a boss.
- Preparation helps you point out the action you propose to undertake.
- It lets you know when you have time to complete the task.
- It gives you an idea about the components involved in the process.
- Planning will equip you for the task.
- It helps you define the task so you know what to do every day, every week, and every month. It creates a habit.
- Planning prevents unnecessary distractions and duplication.
Here’s a big secret I’ve learned from planning.
The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.

The Planning for Remote & Hybrid Success
n 2026, the lines between our living rooms and our offices have blurred more than ever. If you are working from home, “how to plan” isn’t just about tasks—it’s about boundaries. Without a physical commute to reset your brain, you have to create a “mental commute.”
- Define Your Work Zone: Even if you don’t have a home office, designate a specific chair or side of the table for work only. When you sit there, you are at the office.
- The Bookend Method: Start your day with a 10-minute walk outside (your morning commute) and end it by closing your laptop and physically hiding it from view (your evening commute).
- Time-Blocking for Households: If you share your space, include Focus Blocks in your daily routine where you wear noise-canceling headphones or use a visual sign (like a closed door or a desk lamp) to signal to others that you are officially at work.
THE 3 STEPS TO CREATE A DAILY ROUTINE
PLAN 1 – How to Plan a Productive Morning Routine
The first solution, and now the most important, is commanding my morning. This routine sets the tone, environment, and mood for the day.
GET IT NOW – 10 THINGS TO DO FOR A PRODUCTIVE MORNING
Rise early. From an early age, my grandmother always said, “Don’t let the sun rise while you are still in bed.”
My time of devotion includes worship, music, Bible reading, prayer, and waiting for God to direct me (meditation).
Have a glass of water with apple cider vinegar or lemon (optional)
Make my bed. This small task creates order in my mind and allows me to start my day. Also, I can’t function in a messy area.
Gym – I’ll opt for yoga movements if my schedule doesn’t allow time for them.
It is part of my strategy to get these things before I walk into my office because when I do, I feel like I have just achieved a portion of my schedule.

PLAN 2. Organizing Your Daily Office and Work Schedule
Here are some ideas for planning your office routine and staying motivated.

- Arrive early before your boss.
- Prayer before starting anything.
- Have a clear desk – sometimes, I shuffle the desk occasionally to feel most significant to me.
- Visualize, in detail, how I want to start.
- Open my electronic planning device and enter the list of things to action.
- Set up pop-ups on my computer or phone throughout the day to keep me on schedule with each task. It makes me aware!
Upgrade Your Toolkit: Planning with AI and Smart Apps
While I love a paper planner for brainstorming, staying on schedule in a fast-paced world requires digital precision. Move beyond basic “electronic devices” and start leveraging AI-driven productivity:
Smart Scheduling with AI: Tools like Reclaim.ai or Motion can automatically shift your tasks around when meetings run late. They “plan” for you by finding the best slots for deep work based on your energy levels.
Centralized Hubs (Notion): Use Notion to keep your 3-step routine in one place. You can link your Productive Morning Checklist directly to your Work Projects so you never lose focus.
Task Management (Todoist): For those who love the Type A satisfaction of checking a box, Todoist is my go-to. Use it to set recurring reminders for Step 3 (your evening R&R) so you don’t accidentally work into the night.
Dopamine Tracking: Use apps like Forest during your work routine to gamify your focus. It prevents you from picking up your phone, helping you stick to the plan you worked so hard to create!

Once you’ve mastered your office routine, it’s time to introduce the afternoon solution. Besides, my after-work routine is where I handle ME and my entrepreneurial career. I take this time to lionize the vision for myself. It’s essential to continue to fulfil your life goals. Although you may have to work harder, don’t stop pursuing your goals. And this is how to plan it!
- Schedule my workout – I handle it like any other necessary appointment, just like a doctor’s appointment.
- Then, after scheduling, execute by showing up.
- Learning development – This is where I create ways to continue learning. I wrote about it in a post here.
- Now, a portion of my entrepreneurial career is online, so I use digital apps to schedule my activities. In case you are wondering, for example, Instagram.
- Review my goals for tomorrow.
- End my day with R&R time!
